my thought is that your life at that time had a large void. your situation was not working for you and you needed find something to fill that void and give you answers to some of you questions. this is a common thing its what AA and NA uses. they call it "your higher power". if belief in something that doesnt exist is what gets you through the day. more power to you

surely you dont expect me to play nice. thats not my nature. i am opinionated and overbearing

We just ask that you stay within TBD Guidelines and to the topic at hand. We are already aware of your being "opinionated and overbearing", so that comment was redundant. ; - )

ROFL!! I've been visiting in the political threads and decided this looked tame in comparison. You are not a nice person, and with my having grown up with 4 brothers, there's not much you can say that would "shock" my eyes! Since it was a holiday weekend, I decided to be more lenient. The smile wasn't for you, but represented by mood.

I interpreted Mr. Gentleman's post as tongue in cheek and poking fun at himself in this case. Maybe we could all take ourselves less seriously at times.

CT: Who is this post in reference to? This thread is hard to follow if you don't hit the quote button at the top of the message pane. That feature makes it easier to see whose response you are responding to. Were you answering my question about sharing your thought on "why it happened" when I shared my experience with God? Or were you responding to someone else? If it were me you were responding to, I will agree that I was going through a very difficult time in my life. Thus, the cry for help. Higher Power and God are the same for me. I am a SA therapist, and work with a lot of people on that issue; many clients who do not believe in God. They choose whatever works for them and call it their higher power. Their HP could be strength they achieve from within. Whatever works, is agreeable. I've also seen people use no belief in a HP because they do not want to participate in sessions and that bottom line is that they do not want to do the work or take responsibility. That's what it all boils down to doesn't it? And this is a whole separate issue. There is a 12 step group on TBD too.
