I've had this discussion with many people over the years. Star Trek or Star Wars? They both have their merits, but which is your favorite and why?

For me, it's Star Trek. I was watching it years before Star Wars came out. I guess you could say that I grew up on it. :) I like Star Wars too, but it seemed to me that Star Wars was limited to a few story line strands to get to a single main point. Start Trek, to me, tended to address various issues. I like Star Wars for the "escape value" and Star Trek for learning. I'm just geeky that way. :)

I'll go with Star Trek because it's been out there much longer than Star Wars. I can remember watching it as a kid and the episodes still come into my head on a lot of days. Probably from years of reruns. Star Trek actually dealt with everyday situations in a futuristic setting that really isn't that unbelievable. Gene Rodenberry was a genius.

Space...The Final Frontier...

And for all you Trekkers, don't forget the new Trek movie comes out next year. Kirk and Spock's first machine at the helm of the enterprise coming out of the StarFleet Academy.

Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry was a genius. A lot of the inventions he created for the show are actually in existence today. Real application of creative vision.

my inner monologue: "OH. NO. My cover is blown...they all know now that I am a trekkie geek, quick say something redeeming...."

Shatner was fine and made is with space chicks!

inner monologue 2: "Play it cool now and walk away".
