Hi there! I live in the Lowcountry, SC. In my sleepy little town there aren't many coffee shops, but we do have a local bar that I enjoy going to occasionally. I'm not much on the bar scene anymore (been there done that) but this place is like the "Cheers" of SC. Everyone knows my name, my voice on the phone, etc. and they really act happy to see me. It's nice to just have other adults around, a drink or two and enjoy some conversation that doesn't involve homework, ball games, etc. I also try to get my gal pals together at least once a month to take in a movie and supper. We just saw Sex in the City and went out afterwards for drinks. The best part? We were home by 10 p.m. Lol... Hang in there, you'll get the hang of it soon enough. Keep in touch!

I love the low-country! We lived in Manning several years ago, and have always adored Edisto Island and Charleston! It is so beautiful! I must confess, though, that I have always referred to the upstate as God's country. Whenever we would come home, the hills and mountains just got to me. Eventually, we moved back here for good but we make at least one trip to the low-country every year. Welcome to the group!
I live in the upstate, also. I like going to Greenville, there are more "adult" places to hang out. I am dating so that tends to make it easier to go places. Downtown on Thursdays is good for music and socializing. I believe we are going to the event tomorrow downtown...music, food, fireworks. Good luck, it is tough to get back out there, but you have support here!!
wel I am not a "carolina girl" but lots of nice places to hang out in the upstate. Rivers Falls Park in Greenville is beautiful. Nice walk, great pictures. I love to go there. Also all kinds of coffee shops around. Driving up Highway 25 is really beautiful as well. Asheville NC. Lots of great places within 60 miles of here. Heck I feel like a tour guide now!

Hey I lived in Goose Creek for 9 years. Loved the lowcountry but glad to be back "home" in upstate for the last 12 years.

Have you ever tried "Low-country"(SC) grits? They are cooked with heavy cream very slowly and are sooooo creamy and good. Top them with shrimp and you just might slap your granny!
