Unless LanSr was talking about the "terrible twos"! In other words, we're cranky, and throw a lot of temper tantrums.

LOL That's what I thought he was referring to, but I couldn't quite figure out why he was saying it. I think you may have cleared that up, though, boothby! Although, I think that could apply to all of us on any given day. ; - )

I thought that Jacquin had responded, and I was about to write, "sounds like what you'd get if you put Judi and I together in the same room..." But you pretty much beat me to it!
;)
Ha!

If you listen closely, you'll always hear God talking to you. It is that voice inside your head that says, "What voice? I don't hear any voice."
We all are God. We are the creators of our own lives. We are the killers of our environment. We are the nurtures of others. We are the ones who create and destroy that which we have or do not have. Without ourselves, we cannot have this world.
I believe that God IS us, not "IN" us and not some entity out there ruling us and the universe. God is us...you and me. If we live by the Golden Rule, we would never have to judge others. And in our religions, we judge others all the time by who and what others believe in. More blood has been spilt in the name of God, Allah, and Yahweh, than in anything else. If there really is a God out there, then why would he allow all the blood to be spilt in his name?
We all are God of our universe. We all control our own lives and our own destinies. God -- out there in the heavens doesn't do that....only WE do that. Once we acknowledge THAT, we can work together to live in a lot more peace and harmony that how we are living today with believing there is a God outside somewhere out there and waiting for him to bail us out or to deliver us.
------------------------------ History Lesson
BTW...the origins of a monotheistic god comes from the ancient Egyptians during the 18th Dynasty. Pharaoh Akhenaten was the first to claim that there was only one God -- Ra. When he was no longer pharaoh, the religion of the Egyptians went back to its former gods, and the idea of monotheism went underground only to emerge again around the time of Jesus Christ who was later crucified because he refused to pay taxes and was preaching same to his disciples. As you know, not paying taxes is a worrisome issue to the governing entities of the time as is of current governmental entities of today.
OK... I'd better stop now. As God of my own consciousness, I don't want to make any more unwanted enemies. :-)
Yes, there is a God. God is called our conscious.

I like your thoughts Sausan and thank you for sharing. Thank you for the inclusion of Ra. Just one minor correction on the monotheism as far as the three monotheistic faiths of today. Judaism came first, then Christianity, then Islam. Good thoughts in your thread on we need to realize we are responsible.

I think the belief in a "God" outside oursevles - a separate and cohesive "being" to whom we will answer for our behaviors is deeply damaging belief.
It also dismisses us from the direct responsibility for our own actions and perceptions.
However..... if one takes the stance that any real god would honor Love and Truth (closely related subjects) then it would be wise to just adopt them as your "higher power". I promise - they'll be good gods and wont break their word to you.
