You need to call an electrician and ask him to install an extra circuit just for the AC. It will be worth the couple of hundred dollars it costs! A pair of 12000 BTU air conditioners in a hot climate can suck a lot of power and if they share a line with other appliances like a tv, lamps, whatever else, it is too much for the circuit. A circuit braker prevent overheated lines and fires.

Houses are often built to minimum code specs. I have anew house and I upgraded my circuit box right after I moved in. I've had twelve years of uninterrupted service and we are high power users.
