Why did the music die??? If it did how did Don Mclean write and sing a song about it since music was dead?

Today you would get arrested for that and lose your drivers license for at least a year. How times have changed.

Did anybody know that country music legent Waylon Jennings, a member of the Crickets, gave up his seat on the plane to some else and therefore lived.

Jennings was part of the music review. He was, at the time standing in on Bass for Holly and some of the other acts on the review. Niether of the Crickets were on that tour. Both original Crickets live.

Of all that I've read, pickleallen has the most interesting comment and revelation.

... and the plane was named "Miss American Pie"...

Whoa! I had a whole lot dirtier idea about what they meant by 'Miss American Pie'. I just was wonderin' why they said, 'Bye, bye' ...

Yes, he did!

At least we got to enjoy Waylon for a few more years. And, now, we're enjoying his son, Scooter.

I remember the movie La Bamba, someone did give up the seat on the plane and wait for the bus to get fixed.

That was a good movie.
