Molly Ivins Dies at 62 - here's her farewell

And she was fun-n-y . . . some Texans and others I know hung on her every word, others would sooner have hung her plain and simple. That little "Shrub" in the White House being one of the latter, no doubt.

I think Molly once reported that the two greatest honors in her life had been:

1. That the Minneapolis police force named its mascot pig after her

2. That she was once banned from the campus of the notoriously conservative Texas A&M University.

What a gal. What a loss. Molly and Ann RIchards both gone now. Who's gonna replace these ladies?

Funny, wise, and always true. She will be missed.

Over Christmas we drove to FLA--yeah that wasnt smart--but OK--anyway we listen to one of heraudio books on Bush and laughed our ASS off.. What a funny lady and she will be missed! What a fighter

About 20 years ago, I got the chance to meet Ms. Ivins when she was honored by Glamour Magazine (where I worked at the time). She was literally a walking spark of energy and made a lasting impression...I wish everyone had the chance to meet her; the world would be a very different place.

And, not least, she gave George W. the nickname Shrub.

Molliy had that rare ability to express outrage and wit at the same time, off the cuff and in her writing.

Three times I was able to watch her turn the tide of an apolitical audience by her obvious knowledge and her humor. I, too, wrote about her in my blog
