Shhh. Bad enough you let the cat out of the bag. Now don't tell anyone it's hidden in the basement of Texas Stadium

Ok, so you've educated us on how to avoid the Bush kidney stones.
Any suggestions for the economy?
My opinion on that is simple to be said, yet impossible (probably) to put into practice.
The dollar needs to be stronger, people shouldnt lend money to other people who cannot afford to pay it back, and budgets should be balanced across the board.
Utopian? Perhaps. But I run my household on a fairly simple plan of income does not exceed outgo. Yes I carry some credit card debt, but its not outrageous.
Personal responsibility towards finances. Sure I want a new BMW. But I am also not going to saddle myself with something I cant afford.
Common Sense. Interest Only Mortgage? please.
Our home equity is not a lottery winning.
Shareholders in corporations should not be demanding the growth levels in profits that have become the norm (double digit ) that companies have achieve by cost cutting (ie layoffs)
The American Consumer (me included) has to insist on American Made goods and services. Some things thats impossible I know. Utopian again. Considering that the Toyota Camry is more American Made than the Ford Focus, its hard to gauge. Then again, in my neck of the woods, 1000 people just got canned because another furniture plant has closed and outsourced to Vietnam and China.
We are beholden to those that hold our debt. Its time for us to quit financing the worlds issues, and clean up the mess in our own backyard. It galls me that we send so much aid overseas, and cant even give the wounded members of the armed forces decent health and mental care.
Ok, rant over. Once again, these are MY views, and if someone can show me a better way, I am all ears.
We also need to get off the oil addiction. It will take generations, but if we lay the groundwork now. We can put rovers on Mars, yet cant engineer a way to turn hog waste into a source of fuel? Someone just hasnt gotten the profit figured out yet.
