At a certain age, if what others say or feel or think about you dictate your choices, state of mind and general well-being, that is a problem. Therefore, it is very good that that feeling of freedom from constraints by others comes so naturally to most of us at that certain age. Some older folks are still being held back by the feelings and controls of their youth. It is so great not to have to stare in the mirror and cry because you think your hair or face does not look right (as you did when you were in the teens). Now, you can see that it does not look right and laugh at yourself, even point it out.
Grumpy could just mean 'seeing with more clarity' but as one of our friends said: we don't want to be so confident and 'don't care' that we keep others ( not as comfortable in their own skin) alienated. My piece. Enjoy the freedom.

Thanks, Hyacinth. From the postings on this thread, I am getting the feeling that it's not just me as it's more of a natural change in life. I appreciate the comments.

I believe as I have gotten older I found that I am more spiritual and not so much interested in what people think of me. I ask myself these questions when I get stuck in the junk...are these people paying my bills and why am I giving them so much of my valuable energy.
