I watched Kid Nation after seeing a couple of the kids on ELLEN yesterday. They seemed smart/witty, and incredibly empowered by their experience on the show - and, they made me want to check out the show...
I liked it. Like all reality TV, the magic is in the editing and casting. And, CBS got it right: so far, it's seems pretty smart and heartwarming. I won't say I 'care about these kids' yet, but I can see that i will as I get to know them more. I want to see how these kids make a go of it, how they continue to support each other, while maintaining their individuality.
I think it's kid friendly, and family friendly. If I had kids 8-12 years old, I think the show would open up some pretty great discussions ... CBS is reporting 10 million viewers, so I know I'm not alone (though I might be among the few adults w/o kids who watched)...
Also, it seems like a "Jericho, for kids" - does THAT make you want to check it out? :-)
For now, I'll keep recording/watching...
what about you?
