We have done that at my house for some time. It is a great thing for kids to do. Otherwise they tend to just take and take.
We also encourage doing one act of kindness a day. I try to have the kids do this for a complete stranger. One day when I was at McDonalds ordering breakfast and the person in the car before me paid for my breakfast. It floored me! What a nice ting to do for a complete stranger. That is when we started the act of kindness.
When my kids were little they would hold the doors open for someone - something they could do without it costing them. It gave them a good feeling.
I tried to make them look at what they had and to appreciate it.

It all sounds great. I am sure your kids don't take anything for granted.
And hey, Helping Hand, one of my thanks today flies to you: Thanks for adding me; thanks for the pleasure of meeting you; thanks for the pleasure of reading your posts!
Bless you!

Thank you for sharing that story Helping Hand.
Random Acts of Kindness are powerful. I am a firm believer in looking for people to be kind to each and every day.
The wonderful thing about it is that we reap what we sow and I have been blessed with random acts of kindness by others over and over again. (Too many to mention here)
Thank you again for sharing and reminding me how our actions create wonderful results in the lives of others and ours as well.
Which reminds me of a quote.lol
"We have to be the change we wish to see in the world." Ghandi
I had that quote pasted to my computer for months and it became part of me.

Funny how all of our experiences mold us.
Good Morning, this is such a great way to begin a new day, thanks for all the comments. I've received a few messages of love this morning that I'd like to share: Angel Cards: "The Angel of Love: The more I learn to love myself, the more I know how to love others. "Love your neighbor as yourself". When the healing power of Love flows through our lives it transforms old habit patterns and beliefs and a the same time it protects us and lifts the energies of all around us. Love is the reason behind all there is." Yogi tea: "Let your heart speak to others' hearts." 1) I'm grateful for the messages I receive and for being aware to accept them. 2) I'm grateful for allowing myself to laugh more each day. 3) I'm grateful for tuning in more to my soul for guidance, as I learn more each day.

Good day to all of you. It is a brand new day. I love what you started here Durqu. I was pondering bringing it up before so I am glad you did. I saw some very intelligent authors on the subject on a show, ok it was Oprah, and self affirmation is evidently extraordinarily helpful. And I think it may have been said already, but is worth repeating. "we cannot give love without having love for oneself". So, I know it feels wierd but to practice self affirmation is a healing practice (so they say). One excercise is to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you love who you are. This one was hard at first, but I found myself crying. The more fun one is, any time you happen to see your reflection in a mirror or window, just give yourself a wink and say "How ya doing cutie?" It's kinda funny, but a good place to start. Also love your neighbor as yourself.. Absolutely!!! So keeping in the Attitude with gratitude practice, I am grateful today, for the ability be here in the present with you. I am also grateful that, with yet another birthday looming, I am alive and here to see another birthday, I am also grateful for the beauty of nature just outside my door. Have a great day, cuties..

welcome frustratedinatlanta. I hope your experience here leaves you more grateful for what is in your life and less frustrated for what is not. I hope you will that if you pursue this path, that you will find that happiness and contentment will follow. The fact that you are grateful already to awaken and enjoy fresh air is great. We all start with breathing.
