OK, CarolT, real or leg pulling? Hell of a way to get out of a wedding!

I love my MIL but she is a little odd. She had been unable to go to her daughter's wedding, so she didn't want to seem to play favorites by going to ours. Two weeks before the wedding she fell down and broke both wrists.
I think it was subconscious so she'd have an excuse. It wasn't really that good an excuse anyway because it was a very informal ceremony and there were only four people there, including me and my husband, but that was the excuse she gave.

Today I learned that the route signs one encounters along the roads have a very specific order.
From the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices):
"Where two or more routes follow the same section of highway, the route signs for Interstate, U.S., State, and County routes shall be mounted in that order from the left in horizontal arrangements and from the top in vertical arrangements. Subject to this order of precedence, route signs for lowernumbered routes shall be placed at the left or top.
"Within groups of assemblies, information for routes intersecting from the left shall be mounted at the left in horizontal arrangements and at the top or center of vertical arrangements. Similarly, information for routes intersecting from the right shall be at the right or bottom, and for straight-through routes at the center in horizontal arrangements or top in vertical arrangements."
And I learned that (at least in my area) this sequence is not always followed.

I'm so sorry, Marilyn. How useless, exactly? Broken? In a cast?

Thanks, Carol! No, not broken, nor in a cast. Just badly bruised on the bicep and forearm . . . I was carrying my left arm in my right hand yesterday because it was too painful to lift or even just let it hang by itself. Today is slightly better, but now the left leg is so painful I can barely walk.
Nothing compared to breaking both wrists, however! Yikes. And at least I was having fun!

EDITED:
...my mother-in-law fell down and broke both her wrists so she wouldn't have to come to our wedding.
