I remember that too Goodness, LOL. Sometimes mom would have my father or one of my brothers go outside and come back in or she'd call a male neighbor, to come over to cross the threshold first, just in case. I never realized how superstitious my mom really was, but what's even stranger is that no one ever hesitated or questioned this practice ...hhmmm?
