Mom and Dad would go up to Philly to see our family on the weekends it would take a couple hours in those days can still feel it now, laying in the back seat of the car next to my little sis, listening to the radio usually the grand ole opera and watching the stars out the back window, the warmth of the car surrounding me like no blanket could.

The fireflies struck a chord for me. My childhood was spent in Nebraska, we played outside till after dark and would just sit and watch the fireflies, like our own little fireworks show every night. I miss the fireflies, now.

I would crawl into bed in between my parents for every thunder & lightening storm.
I've done it with my son, as well! He would say, "mommy, I'm not afraid!" and I would say, "of course you're not, but I am!" he would crack up and snuggle up :)
The safety & comfort of my family being in-tact!

whenever i think pleasant thoughts about my childhood, my mom and my kooky best friend are always there, and so are the fireflies. their population has dwindled over the years but they are making a comeback. in chicago and southern wisconsin areas we can once again sit outside at dusk and watch them sparkle over the fields - what a show. i can be enchanted by that for two hours while my husband swipes mosquitos and wonders if i will ever grow up. ; )
hoping they will soon be lighting up the nebraska fields for you, claudia!

Hadn't thought about this in a while.
1. Catching crabs at the Jersey Shore or fishing with my Dad
2. Christmas with my Mom and Dad
