I put this comment on today, because it's not yesterday anymore. But Lostmutt brought up the arresting officer thing, on the last post.

I have to tell you I have a pretty quiet neighborhood, but I my house is on a corner, and occassioanlly people will pull over in front of my house and use their phone or read a map.

Today I was doing the dishes before supper, right in the front window, and I noticed a CHIP was parked in back of a new vehicle that looked like it might be a Lincoln Town Car - some old lady on the way to her hair appointment. What I'm saying is, I didn't relax until that little duo broke up, and the guy wearing the uniform was gone. What is it about us that checks the odometer when the Highway Patrol is right behind us?

What have we got to fear if we're doing nothing wrong?

I just thought I'd throw that out to "our generation" born right after the war, or just after that. Were we marked by a mindset of hyper-lawfulness? Or does everyone clutch up when the hood lights rotate for you?
