Well I'm going to kick-start this group by introducing myself. My friends call me "Doc". Probably cause I used to be a DJ and called myself "The Doctor Of Music." I started with what I knew best..oldies music of the 50's and 60's. "From half past doo wop to seconds before disco" is the line I like to use on my web radio station and my Oldies Music Lovers Network. I have seen a ton of oldies concerts over the years and still do today when I get the chance. I confess..I'm an oldies music "junkie", and the music of this era is "my drug". Ok, you probably guessed by now that I was likely born on the cusp of rock'n'roll. And you'd be right. My teen years were spent, among other thngs, listening to AM radio and the Top 40 rock hits of the 60's. I used to wish Wolfman Jack was living in my house!. My local radio station used to have nightly "Name It & Claim It" contests which I could speed dial in and win records until they finally banned me from entering. I knew then, as now, all the lyrics and the artists. I was hooked. In later years I DJ'd at a night club of oldies music and DJ'd "for hire" as well. Then 8 years or so ago, the home I bought had a basement of nothing. In less than a year I transformed it into a 50-60's rec room complete with a dance floor, DJ booth, flashing lights, smoke machine, posters, pictures...well you get the picture. We partied like it was 1965 all over. Never does a day go by without those songs as a part of my "diet". I need that "fix" everyday!.
So come on in and trade stories, add stories, ask me questions or simply say anything you like. Enjoy all you want.
