I have often enjoyed the quotation (sung by Joplin, written by Kris Kristofferson) "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose."
This quotation turns my losses into an asset. It also puts into perspective the jealousy others may have for my freedom -- they forget the cost. I own the cost but still find the joy in my release.
