How sad it is that Whozzo's was the last comment on this thread before Dinky got kicked off of TBD and everybody on the "Bring Dinky Back" thread has taken to villifying the man just because he had the temerity to be a little coarse in his comments. On 09/16 I will have been on this site for two months. Nothing I have read, seen or 'heard' on other social networking sites in the time since I joined TBD has resulted in one person's "TERMINATION" from their respective website(s). Yet Dinky is villified and likened to Hitler and/or Pol Pot (choose your poison) by those who would rather stifle the voice of dissenting opinion, rather than engage that voice in meaningful dialogue.
I could understand the resistance if he were a child-molester or sex-offender or a murderer or a rapist.
The man is none of the above descriptions.
He is simply that person to whom we ascribe the characteristics of a take-no-prisoner, no-bullshit, tell-it-like-it-is, friend with no hidden agenda.
When we meet that brutal frankness and are confronted by its honesty, we rail against it, further compounding the hypocrisy and further damning all its conspirators.

Brutally frank in his opinioins? Yes. However, very little of what he espoused was "honest". When it wasn't vicious, mean-spirited attacks against those with whom he disagreed, it was blatant lies and misinformation; no matter how many times he was reminded, rebuked or redirected to information that proved his "opinion" was in error, he continued, like a cancer, to spread his hate and discontent.
Free speech is a wonderful thing. I support his right to have opinions antithetical to my own. I also think it's reasonable to respect that civil discourse be the norm ( and price of admittance) in this diverse community of adult conversation. Many, if not all, were tired of him yelling fire in our theater.

He'll be happier over at freerepublic.com anyway. : )
emailed him directly and discussed the matter over which we had a difference of opinion. We shared the information that we both possessed on the subject. Drawing the conclusion that we were on the same track coming from different points of view. From that we gained a mutual respect for one another.
Were I to find myself in a similar situation
on this or any other thread on this site, I would take the same course of action.
Very few people bothered to take a course of
action similar to mine after he flamed me. I

Dinky and I have had a number of "off camera" PMs, and he is reasonable with a mono y mono. I did not ever have a problem with him, and, in fact, I think I understood him (although, growing up with 4 brothers that reached the "over 6 ft" mark didn't hurt).
When we communicate with people, we have to be aware of where they are coming from, and try to avoid "pushing their buttons". You guys with opposing viewpoints are excellent adversaries and button pushers. You knew exactly what to say, when to say it, to get the biggest "bang for your buck" reaction out of Dinky, and even others. Then you're surprised when he slices and dices you.
I never approve of name-calling, and me and Dinky did have discussions about that. I guess I would have not liked to be on Dinky's bad side, because that indeed would have been brutal.
My final comment is that I liked Dinky, liked that he kept it "real", even if we might not agree with what reality was composed of (lol). Many of you baited him, so shame on you, too. It takes at least two to make a fight.

The Nations top problems?? Hmmm....Lets start with the number 1 problem: Bush & Co. in the White House. They are all nothing but a bunch of money/oil/war mongers. The 4 fools trying to move in there are not much better, maybe worse! 2) Global warming...?? No such a thing...we are headed for another Little Ice Age within 2 decades. 3) Enviromentalism....we have done nothing to this planet that it cannot fix itself. Are we really so concited as to think we could do permanent damage to a world? When it gets tired of us it will just shake its back and toss us all into the crapheap of history. During the past week there have been 30+ earthquakes worldwide greater then 5.0 I would say the planet is getting ready to purge itself of our infestation!

Hey you don't know within a week we would be heading out to make music together after work.
I don't doubt that at all.
