Welcome, leefoster! My Dad died in the Old Soldiers and Sailors Home with ALZ. I cannot bless this nursing home more for honoring and caring for him.

After two years of being caregiver for my MIL with ALZ, she is now safe from her only child and is living in a very small country nursing home 10 miles from my house.

I recall my Great Grandmother dieing in a nursing home which told us that we could bring up two beers a day for her. (German---what can I say?) Although I was very young and afraid of my first impressions of the death process involved in nursing homes, I have had nothing but good experiences

The only beloved woman in my life, my Grandma C died in a nursing home. She went suddenly and was able to die away from the abusive life she had lived. My Mom, died suddenly also in a nursing home. She demanded care and she received it. All of these people I mention were seen by me continually as I witnessed death come to them. (MIL) still alive, though.

I know that is not the case for all. Perhaps you would open up with your residency of 3 years there?

I saw the other day at my visit a man who clung to me and told me I was pretty. He is Justin and 22 years old. My heart is burdened for this area of ministry. I can only witness the kindness of others and thank God that we do not put a dying body on an ice float or left on a street corner and let them die a long death without the aide of others to ease the process.
