Hi, guys, I was just getting a memory flash when I heard about this!
When I was but a young'un in the '50's, we went camping with friends who had a home-made camper built onto their red pickup. It was called 'Pegasus' because on each side the plywood wall dropped outward with a canvas 'wing' making a triangle covering the bunk it formed.
I remember sleeping in it during a rainstorm; it was fairly waterproof unless you touched it, so we learned to keep our hands off the canvas.

That's what my double bunk's like at the trailer, well so's my parents' queen bunk, they also have a memory foam topper on top of their foam mattress, but they also have the option of not opening their bunk, and sleeping on the double bed the dinette turns into.
So the middle section of the trailer is solid trailer, the bath, kitchenette, and dinette, the one closet, and three cubby's for clothes, with a canvas bunk that flips out of each end.
It's probably the smallest trailer at the campground, bought because it was the largest their minivan could tow. Part of the reason it's parked full-time now is that the van's too old, and the strain of pulling it is too much, it almost blew the transmission, recently gas prices have become another reason. Luckily, we really love the campground.
booboo
If it makes you feel any better, my bunk's hard as hell, there's only space to store one memory foam additional mattress, and since it's not my trailer, it's not mine. It's warmer than sleeping on the ground, but not any softer.

I miss our camping days. We started out tenting, usually by lakes where we could water ski. *I was 25 the first time I went camping.) Did that for years and loved it...usually.
Then we decided to "go for it" and purchased a used class A motorhome when our only child was an infant. What great times we had...all over the western US...mostly forest lands, dry camping. Then son hit 14 and "camping" with mom and dad was "bo-ring." Sold the motorhome. Maybe again...even if we just rent for a few weeks.
Hey, Booboo, maybe we'll run into you somewhere! We did lots of camping in Oregon and Washington/San Juan Islands. :-)
Gayle, did western Canada a lot...so much more to see!

Just a quick note before I get ready to go for the weekend.
Last night we met friends at a lovley spot (Pierport) on Lake Michigan and had a cookout. Long, empty beach to walk, gorgeous sunset, good food and friends--it was a lovely evening.
Today we are going to Charlevoix, MI (beautiful Up North little town) for our nephew's wedding. I think my hubby's whole family will be there and it will be a lot of fun. We are spending the night then taking our time coming back home to savor the sights. Have a great weekend, everybody! Ciao, Roxie

Sounds like a lovely weekend Roxie. Have a safe trip!
No camping this weekend after all, but the truck does have a new trailer hitch. We went to #1 Son's for bar BQ pork chops and while the girls watched a Care Bears movie, Son and Hubby installed the trailer hitch.
And, the good news....drum roll...youngest son called me from Nashville. He arrived there yesterday to begin pre-deployment training, only to be told that he didn't have to go because everyone knows his transfer is coming through and he won't be deploying with his current National Guard unit. So today DIL is driving across TN to pick him up. He's only missed a week of school, so he will enroll for this quarter. Nothing's "guaranteed" with the army, but it's looking good that he won't be deploying on this trip. He appears to be on track for his transfer to the chaplaincy program, and the receipt of his commission.

Thought I'd pop in and say hi. We had Hanna go over us this morning. I was all set for thrills and excitement, for 3 or 4 feet of flooding at hide tide(since we live on the edge of a large salt marsh).... and nothing! We had winds that gusted up to 50+, but I've been in worse winds in Anchorage (100+ mph there winter day). Oh well.... It has cleared up and we have a lot of blue sky. Beautiful evening here.
Ken, my wonderful and ever so devoted hubby is cooking a scampi dish... wow! it smells great!
I purchased a "new" violin this week! Very exciting! It is actually old.... made in 1780.... the sound is really great. I brought it home a couple of weeks ago and couldn't stand the idea of parting with it. My Scottish fiddle music (most of it is also 18th century) sounds great on it. Any way.... I'm in 7th heaven with it. ...... grinnnnnn
