McCain, Barr and Nader are not Democrat candidates ...so that only leaves Obama to vote for.

Because he is a constitutional scholar - and not a republican. The current republican conservative is content to eviserate it's principles, despite the evidence of fracture within their own ranks on that regard. Note the following points put forth by the American Freedom Agenda - begun by conservatives:

1) No military commissions except on the battlefield.
2) No evidence extracted by torture or coercion.
3) No detaining citizens as unlawful enemy combatants.
4) Restoring habeas corpus for suspected alien enemy combatants.
5) Prohibiting warrantless spying by the National Security Agency in violation of law.
6) Renouncing presidential signing statements.
7) Ending secret government by invoking State Secrets Privilege.
8) Stopping extraordinary rendition by the United States.
9) Stopping threats to prosecuting journalists under the Espionage Act of 1917.
10) Ending the listing of individuals or organizations as terrorists based on secret evidence.

Even the Maveric John McCain is unlikely to restore order and common sense when the republican party is so tightly controled by right wing fanatics.

Because McCain thinks the American Middle Class is defined by those with $5 million or less -

and his economic adviser insists that the public is a 'nation of whiners'

Because current conservative policy does not include fiscal conservatism - just look at our deficit.

Because although conservatives insist they are for smaller government this does not include our surveillance or military industrial complex - witness the unnecessary creation of Homeland Security.

Because we need to get real on alternative energy, which presents a rather complex set of interrelationships that require some serious and indepth analysis if we are to chart a new course.

Market Economics in and of themselves will not ensure the wisest course going forward. They can only ensure that those with the deepest pockets will be the ones who determine energy policy - a clear conflict of interest, in that they have an investment in the current infrastructure.

Our energy policy is tied directly to global issues, like global warming, tension in the Middle East, and so on. If we do not reduce our own demand for foriegn oil, then we ensure that the competition for finite resources increases tension internationaly while at the same time holding our own economy hostage to the whim of foriegn nations.

The oil industry cannot be allowed to dictate policy on energy, because as an industry, their primary consideration is profit, and Market Economics will not provide a solution to this convoluted problem.

Because the republican leadership has no interest in clean water or clean air. They come up with programs like 'the Clear Skys iniitiative'

how fucking cynical, how hypociritcal can they get? Honestly? I'm not willing to give them another four minutes, let alone four years, to find out.
