Dave,
I get your point and understand it completely.
MY GOD... I found a person that is responsible and accountable...believes their word is their bond and sees the world as I do.
Toby when I move to my secluded mountain retreat, you're welcome there any time!

Only if they're separate rooms in separate locations. Personally, I don't want to be anywhere near that clucker.

I didn't back down to any of your lame arguments, did I? Who's the one using a chicken for his avatar?
Now make a lot of people happy and let this thread die the natural death that it deserves.

I grew up in a strong Democrat family that believed in these famous words "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". What happened to those who believed this and why did we let our values move so drastically from them?

I think that history takes on a patina and makes you remember things differently than they really were. John Kennedy was a brilliant man and I think American would have been a different and better place had he not been assassinated, but he had some serious character flaws. Back then, the media kept out of his private life, although they knew about his numerous infidelities.
Now, it takes two full-time incomes for most families to maintain the standard of living that used to be possible with one. Having raised my children in this situation, I just don't agree that we've become a nation of greed and laziness.
When you speak of "class warfare" today, all I can think of is the civil rights movement of the '60's when people had fire hoses turned on them during peaceful demonstrations. American should be proud that we have come so far from those days, and there is more opportunity for all Americans.
I agree we have problems -- and the breakdown of the family has made it difficult to raise a generation of children who understand responsibility. But, when I look at my own kids, I have hope.
