The morning before my mom passed away I was sleeping on a mattress on the floor at my sister's house. Early in the morning I woke up thinking that my brother in law was leaving for work. I "thought" I saw him standing by my mom's chair then walk around the front of it and sit down, he leaned over like he was trying to figure out who was on the mattress. I closed my eyes, opened them again and he was gone. Still thinking it was my brother in law and that I had fallen asleep again. When I told my sister, she told me that he never sits in mom's chair and that it wasn't her husband. When I asked him later, he said he went straight outside to put his boots on and didn't come in that room. My sister thinks that I saw her deceased son and that he was there to help my mom cross over. I felt a chill when I found out it wasn't my brother in law. But I didn't feel any menace, so I just let it go that my nephew was there to help his grandma pass.

Seeing a figure apparition is rare, for most folks. I frequently see shadowy shapes off in my peripheral vision. I sense them, their energy.
Only once did I see a solid figure. I was in the Shiloh battlefield walking through the "Hornets Nest" area. Ahead of me, I saw a Confederate soldier walking along, solid figure, nothing below the knees. This was at noon on a sunny day, CENTER vision! It lasted as long a quick blink, but he was there. Shiloh is the most "spiritual" battlefield I've been on... and I've been on several.

Great reading all of you that have contributed. I just joined and will write about my Great Uncle Ray! He was a prankster in life and continues in the next one. He died in North Africa during WW2. My mother was just a baby when he left for the war and his last words to her were he'd probably never see her again and so it turned out. My daughter and mother are identical twins almost when looking at pictures of them at the same ages, especially baby pictures. I was away working when my daughter developed a severe case of Bronchitis and was hospitalized. The owner of the company flew to the remote job site and told me the news, told me to pack a plane was waiting. I flew from a grass strip field to DFW where I was dropped off to catch a flight back to Houston. As I walked down this sidewalk a man in an Ice Cream Suit for lack of better explaination just appeared it seemed. He literally glowed! His attire was impeccable, hat, glasses, and all! He asked if I was Pat and I replied yes. He pointed to some doors and told me a flight attendant was waiting for me and while he was pointing I naturally looked to see and when I turned back around, he was gone. I'm on the tarmac at DFW and can see for at least a quarter mile all around me and this man was gone! There was a very nice lady waiting for me as a chartered flight had been arranged and I was at my daughters bedside in less than two hours. After all had gotten better and I was telling my grandmother about the man at the airport, she reached into her purse and pulled some family pics out and held one up and I nearly fell down! There was the man, my Great Uncle, in his uniform right as he was boarding the train to head off to basic. His unform has changed, but the pranks are still the same. He continues to watch over my daughter to this day and I'm comforted by this fact as I know he'll always be there for me also!

I'm just curious... Are there people in this group that have actually seen ghosts?
I don't know if this is a curse or a blessing. Both my mom and I have been able to see ghosts for as long as I remember. I take it for granted now, but it sort of freaks my wife out.

Greetings All ~ I served as vp, then prez of 1st Spiritualist Church of Asheville for a while so I am used to talking with spirits now. Usually I close my eyes in order to see them and they speak without talking, like telepathy. The first time I saw what many would call a "ghost" I was 9 yrs old & it was the spirit of my Grandfather the night after his funeral. I was sleeping in his room and woke up feeling someone. I sat up and saw my grandfather lying on the other bed, just as he did before he died. He was glowing like he was totally surrounded by Light. As I watched, he bolted upright in the bed, swung his legs around, leaned forward and grinned at me like a kid. Scared the crap out of me back then so I threw myself back under my covers & when I dared to look again he was gone. Since then I've had a NDE where I was in my Light body. The feeling of freedom leaving the physical body cannot be described. I understand now what my grandfather was showing me. He was totally crippled with rheumatoid arthritis. I never saw him move without assistance of a lifting device or someone pushing his wheelchair. I believe he was showing me at a young age that anything is possible when you are in your Light body & for that I am very grateful to him. I am no longer afraid at all, just glad to know that he can move again after being trapped in that physical body for so long. I think you are very blessed to be able to see spirits. Hey May & Holly - you might get a kick out of this...
My father's name was Vane Catlin. Not long after he died, a friend of mine, Vivian, stopped by one day to talk.
We'd recently become friends - I was living in a beach house, her husband thought was a great idea, so he bought a place near mine.
As we were talking I asked Vivian if they'd picked a name for the baby, they were "expecting".
Blew my head off when she said they'd name her "Catlin" if it were a girl.
So anyway Catlin was born and there's really never been any doubt in my mind that Vivian is the mother of my father... (grin)!

I agree, from what I know of reincarnation the baby tells the parents the name and the parents think it's their idea. My "evil" grandpa in another thread is back, I could not believe it, the kids who had the baby did not even know him, and they chose his name for their baby . . . a baby I cannot hold because he cries like crazy if I try and I've never had that problem with a baby before. Anyone else can hold him except me. I know who and what he is.

When I read what you wrote about waking up with a ghost in your bed, please forgive me, but I burst into laughter. Now I'm quite certain it wouldn't be quite so funny if it happened to me, but in any event, it sure would make a great scene in a movie.
Also you say "pleading eyes". What do you think the spirit wants? I met a woman once, on line, who claimed she had a "succubus" lover, and Spiritual Advisor, climb in her bed every night.
Now I don't know if this woman was crazy or not, she seemed intelligent, educated and relatively lucid, but she did say she was manic depressive.
Now, I can relate to all that, and as a matter of fact, as far as her succubus is concerned, the way she raved about him made me sort of wonder if he had a brother... :)
Best Wishes,
Sandi

It happened to me once, over 20 years ago, and I still recall the orgasms I awoke to. It was hovering over me, horizonal, but above me, missionary style, but not touching me, I've had some amazing orgasms in my life, but none will ever compare to the one I got from the ghost or succubus or whatever it was. It was absolutely amazing.

as long as what you are seeing is friendly don't sweat it. You should embrace the gift you have.
