I buy local organic produce at the farmers market. I reuse hemp or canvas bags. Plastic bags are a no no. I buy really nice clothes at the consignment store. They are clean and inexpensive and I am not a fashion model from LA! I donate a lot of stuff to Goodwill so other people can use what i am done with.

I have been vegetarian for more than 21 years, which is my favorite way to go green. I "recycle" pets by volunteering for PAWS Chicago to help homeless pets find new homes and have adopted three animals. I use biodegradeable bags for pet waste, drive a hybrid car, carry my stainless steel water bottle everywhere, use CFLs and LED lights throughout my home and walk whenever I can.

I started gardening this spring and learning about composting - we have a compost pile, but I'm not doing real good with it yet.
We stopped buying bottle water a while back and I also only buy natural, environmentally safe cleaning products. Safer for our family and the planet.
We have looked at getting solar power, but will have to wait a bit on that to afford it.
