When you work in the church, coming to worship can have a completely different feel. Sometimes people forget that it's your time to worship, also

I am the church secretary. People tell me things like I was the minister, there to listen to their problems. I have to be just as confidential as the minister does. I also have to listen but not agree or disagree.
I know that our secretaries often get caught in the middle of things. And sometimes they are treated on Sunday like they are at work instead of there for worship.
I wish I wasn't always asked to direct the plays I would love just to act......I love teaching sunday school and I am one of those people that some how avoids the clicks.......I guess because I can't afford to go out to eat or to other peoples houses.........
I commend you for avoiding "clicks." Isn't it something that church can be a lot like high school?
I am the worship leader at our church. I need help. We had one man on guitar that was helping on Wednesday..He dropped out. Now it's me on keyboard. There are seven of us and yes I wished I didn't have to do the leading. I am putting our singers more in solo positions so they can get used to leading. There are no other musicians and it makes it very difficult.
I Guess I’m very fortunate, I’m just ending a term as secretary in my church and beginning one as deacon. I’ve also been secretary and board member in a previous church and never been treated as though I was at work during a service. They have been small churches though with attendance from 50 -80. I’ve always felt like I was amid my family on Sunday mornings which is really great since I live alone and Sundays are my best chance to visit and appreciate these wonderful people.
Kathryntl, It must be very stressful to be the only musician at present. Can you talk to your pastor about making a request from the pulpit for musician volunteers from the congregation? I hope the situation will resolve for you so that you can enjoy your time of worship more.
