It also has something to do with the insurance Doctors and others have to carry for malpractice. Lots of people like to sue and look for things to sue about....real or not so real.

It's funny, isn't it? We sure do take care of some people living in this country but health insurance is astronomical $$ for the lower middle and middle class. I think the health insurance companies make the most $$$ and could be the biggest problem with healthcare in this country.

What's wrong with health care? Simple, those who can provide a solution for the problem don't care. The following is a true situation as applied to me.

The government passed a law authorizing Health Savings Account(HSA) and the city I work for found them to be attractive and a way to save money so changed their plans.

Being retired military and having TriCare I was ineligible for an HSA by federal law yet couldn't have coverage by TriCare as the law says an employer only has to "offer" health care coverage and you can't be fully covered and they are to be a supplemental plan only.

Fearing I was about to lose my health care coverage, I contacted Senators Grassley and Harkin. I got no reply from Harkin and after communicating with Grassley for many months, his office called my home and said "The Senator wants to know why you don't quit your job and find one that will provide the coverage".

Angry as hell I wrote Representative King and he contacted TriCare, he explained the situation to them and within 3 weeks they became my primary provider of health care and I lost no coverage.

So, the problem with health care....those who could provide the solution for the most part have theirs....

I'm not sure the number of doctors is a problem, at least not around where I live... We have half the doctors from India, Pakistan and several other non-English speaking countries represented in the state of Maryland... I could probably deal with that if it weren't for their non-English speaking Nurses, Receptionists,assistants and Billing Facilities... I'm not sure how high the Taxes are in Canada but their National Health Care System seems to working well, unlike the one in the UK. In the UK the care is actually quite good, IF you can get an appointment in under six months and IF their taxes weren't higher than Dolly Parton's hair-do... France has another system headed for failure... I say give universal Health Care a shot... Couldn't be any worse than what we have now... ;)

Yes, providing universal health care or better known as government-run healthcare, will not only drastically increase our taxes, but will also create rationing of health care, just like has happened in Canada and GB!
