What can be done about the appalling state of the US health care system? Does anyone really think that providing 'universal health care' (whatever THAT is) will do anything except drive up taxes? In my opinion, the problem is with the AMA. The AMA controls the number of medical schools that can operate in this country, thereby keeping the number of available physicians down. Why cant medical school admissions be market sensitive, like everything else. The AMA would like you to think that this assures quality medical care, but about all it assures is their high salaries.
