My internist is a wonderful woman who recommended the first one. I do go to a separate gyn who I do like lots, but my primary care is from my internist. I go every year for a physical with her.

I think it so important that we take advantage of the new technology. I've had two bone density scans, (I'm 58). The second one, done about 6 months ago, indicated osteopenia. Weight bearing exercises, calcium with D supplements, and Actonel were recommended and I hope my next scan shows improvement or at the very least, no more bone loss. I have no desire to compete with the incredible shrinking woman. Is there a Zumba class in NJ?

OMG!! AnitaP...your mom actually lost 9" in her height? I really need to find a good multivitamin with calcium. I've been 4'11" & the last physical was told my height is 4'10.5". Let's just say I freaked out a bit. Doc told me that I was probably always that height, they may have bumped me up a bit.
had the test over a year ago & all was fine.

fearless, welcome to our group!
zumba.com and click your town and I hope something comes up...as I said..if there a few instructors try them all. I did til I clicked with some.
I definitely want a scan. I don't want to shrink and then be more vertically challenged with my weight.

Got my first last year, as I was having difficulty with a bone not healing.
My results: arms-great, torso-great, hips-great, legs not so great.
Okay, legs in acceptable range, but not as good as torso & hips. I am in a couple of the risk groups. I have upped my calcium and D.
Here's the interesting thing, I don't/didn't do a lot of lower body weight training, I thought the cardio I did would be enough for impact & weight bearing.
So the areas where I do weight training show better results.
