Well I have recently been to the OB/GYN and he has recommended that I have a hysterectomy. I am 41. I went in to have a discussion with him about an ablation of my uterus but after I described everything that I have been going through, he was sure that a hysterectomy would solve my problems. I am experiencing hormonal headaches like clockwork, severe cramping and bleeding and he also suggested that it would drop my risk for breast cancer as both my sister and mother had breast cancer that was estrogen dependant. The surgery is scheduled but I am a little nervous and just wanted feedback from women who have had it done that it is for the best. I am worried about putting myself right into menopause and the ramifications from that.

My neighbor just told me she has a fibroid and she is 58. She said that they don't recommend she do anything now. Is that normal? I am also worried I may have one when I get my results Wed. I have read that there are less invasive ways dr's do hysterectomies now. The use a laser.
