Boothby171's comment on page 5 is indicative of the difficulty of people being able to understand or critique Christianity while remainining OUTSIDE of the paradigm/system they are criticizing. An athiest is not equipped to critically analyze Christianity while immersed in an atheistic worldview; he or she can only do so from their perspective with their feet planted on atheistic soil. Not from any position of Christian arrogance, but from a position of epistemology and ontology do I offer this: boothby171's comments are moot due to an absence of epistemological and ontological foundation.

The way I understand it and as it has been explained to me, it's NOT how "good" we are, it's whether or not we believe that:
1. Jesus is the Son of God
2. We accept Him as our personal Saviour.
As for being "good", if we wish to live a truly Christian life, then yes we should try to live the way Jesus explained to us in the Bible. If we are "saved", then we are going to Heaven. Period. However, the level of "riches" that we accumulate in Heaven depend on the type of life we have lived. Our rewards depend on how we have treated others.

What do YOU think you must DO to have a place in Heaven? Or do you need to do anything?
How good do we have to be to get into Heaven?
(No need to post if you don't believe in the hereafter).

Hi Judi, found your thread while waiting at my daughter's house. God's standard for how good we must be to enter heaven is, We must be absolutly perfect. Bad news, huh, since none of us are absolutly perfect. The good news is, that if we accept the work His son Jesus did for us on the cross, (took ALL our sin on Himself and paid the price for all that sin), then, when God looks at us, He sees the perfection of His Son that He imputes to us. We can therefor meet God's standard of perfection, and enter His presence in heaven.
note to Tony: see above and we'll see you above

Do? The only thing a person must do is "to believe in their heart and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and they shall be saved (translated-preserved.) Preserved against that day when God's wrath will be poured onto the earth. This doing also can be described as repenting from sin.
Good? The scriptures state that no man is good but that only the Father in heaven is good. For all men have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
That is all one must "do" to have a place in heaven so if you die after repentance boom you're in heaven. If you don't die then we are told to occupy till Jesus returns, it is in this occupying that we must serve the Lord, through prayer, good works, faithfulness, kindness, temperance etc.

Hi singleNillinois, Please know that God is not against people like you. He is so much for you, that He sent His son to die, so that you could be with Him in eternity. He is against our sins, but he loves us. I am a former thief and liar among other things, and in the same part of the Bible that defines stealing and lying as sin it warns that I can't be with him in eternity If I die unrepentent of them. I liked not having to pay for things and my life was so much less stressful when I could lie to solve problems. I finaly had to make a choice though, when I believed what God says in His Word, and I've never been sorry That I chose God's way.

Boothby, why bother to comment when you do not believe in God? Why spend time talking about Jesus who you say does not
exsist?
God is love.
