I've been shredding papers since Saturday...finally finished the last about an hour ago. ... This is really big for me...I've carried these 8 boxes through 6 moves for 18 years...and I'm done with them as well as that chapter of my life....what an amazing journey and such a relief to be finished.

Oh Durqu! I know that feeling of getting rid of the past. Makes you want to do a fireworks celebration. Doing the Snoopy happy dance for Durqu. Now I'm hungry. Think I'll boil up some linguini.

Thanks Paula & Joella for joining me in celebrating. As to how many pounds...still a little early to tell but feels like a lot..
I couldn't sleep very well last night I was so excited. The space, physically - emotionally & mentally that's opened up is amazing. One thing I've come to learn is that we don't realize until we're through with the situation, just the amount of pressure and stress we feel. This is one of those cases. I just kept telling myself that it was just some boxes, not a big deal. Soooo not true!!!
Have a great day,
Deb

My husband ran a virus program yesterday evening on our computer. I don't know what it all means, but we had a trojan horse and a couple of other viruses on our computer. He did his thing, got them off of us, now puter seems to be fine. ah WOOHOOOO.

Durqu, I want you to know you inspired me. I took a good look at my bedroom, and got rid of everything that wasn't a part of resting. Today I'm going to put the windex right to the windows, and two tables. I'm going to use my "new" room for resting this weekend. Thanks!

Durqu - congrats on your shedding of the past. I had a similar experience recently when my brother-in-law "forced" me into cleaning out my garage. He and my sister are living with me right now and he wanted to set up a workshop in the garage for himself and the STUFF in my garage was overwhelming. So, we got busy, threw away a lot of stuff, had a huge garage sale, and then I felt the great relief you mention. It was amazing! Now I just have to make sure I don't let "stuff" accumulate like that again! I think that's going to be the trick for me, because I'm an incurable packrat!

I just came in from outside...what an amazing autumn day, sun shining and warm...raked my first pile of leaves in the back yard.
Joella, glad your hubby ran the scan on your computer and things are up and running. Sounds like your weekend is set-up for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation in your newly cleared space - enjoy.
Kathie, I too am a packrat. But that has been changing and it took a major turn Feb 07 when I was cleaning out my in-laws house after she died. I remember standing in the basement, feeling totally overwhelmed with all the 'stuff', and made a promise that I wouldn't leave that for my kids. My thing is what to do with some that is too good to throw out - couldn't be bothered to have a yard sale...as I'm typing this - light bulb moment(hehe) I can donate it to the local Salvation Army. This also inspired me to quit 'shopping' and for gifts, I've asked my family for gift certificates or donations to charities...so far this is really working.
That's great your brother-in-law encouraged you in your endeavor - it does feel so much better in the long run.
Here's to clearing and enjoying the open space.
Take care,
Deb
