I think high 50's - low 60's would be ideal running temps....I think the Fall is the best time for races for that reason....the Summer can get brutally hot for running/racing....the Winter can get pretty cold and snowy...I normally do run a couple races in January and February.... it's different in the Winter....
I tried giving you an out with this year being almost over....half marathons are a good distance...you have to train for 'em...but they don't beat your body up like a full marathon... you also recover sooner...

hmmm --- training schedule called for 4, and i planned to do 5 --- barely got 3 in. <SHRUGS shoulders> not sure what happened here. tomorrow calls for 3, so i'll just switch out and do 4 then so my mileage will equal out. maybe i'll be up for 5 tomorrow?
no matter how much i think it's a good idea --- y'all stop me from registering for the local 1/2 on 10/25. LOL

I hate to say this but I'm not going to be able to do my half in 3 weeks. I just don't have the time to prepare properly. with the kids activities and my work schedule and just life in general something has to go and for me its the time needed for training properly. I'm hoping to keep doing at least 3 to 5 miles 3 times a week and hopefully finding a race in the early part of next year so that when the kids activities go off for the winter months I'll have some time to train for it before the next season starts up. I hate having to put my stuff on the back burner but for me family is more important than my stuff.

rush, i'm sorry that you're not going to be able to do the race, but i completely understand having to arrange your priorities. i'm sure you'll be able to find a race when things slow down --- and if you keep your mileage up, it won't be hard for you to ramp up for the 1/2.
and because i'm sure everyone was on pins and needles (LMAO!!!), i did get the 5 done this morning. i guess whatever was bothering me yesterday was temporary. :) wanna know something weird? a few of my students asked me if i even got a run in yesterday --- i guess my mood was a bit off, as well as my run.

thanks Trish. I feel sort of down now that I don't have it looming but I know its for the best.
Isn't it strange that your students would equate that to your running. I was gonna ask how things were going for you after your bad day, so its good you were able to get back to it right away. good job.

i can understand your feeling down about it --- i don't know about you, but i'm pretty driven with my running goals, so i can definitely see how i would be down about not doing it.
and thanks --- i was a bit apprehensive as to how things were going to go this morning.
i'm pretty much low key most of the time at work --- if i get upset, i tend to go quiet as opposed to getting loud with them --- i think yesterday I went quiet pretty quickly with them, so they thought i must not have run at all. of course, i've had these kids for two years, so they know me pretty well --- i'm not sure my new 9th graders would have made that connection.
