I agree with the advice you received above - but also wanted to let you know that you have several excellent shots of OBama on your site. I really enjoyed seeing your work - keep shooting!

Thanks for stopping by and the kind words. I'm really curious...did your flower shots come from your garden? Most of mine do and it says alot about how you can create beauty right in your own backyard! They are very provacative.

Thank you for the kind words. feel free to rss or email subscribe. I'll be posting a few more landscapes to my blog, then I'm going to post some weird digital images based on landscapes, then some crazy studio stuff I shot yesterday.

Yes...all the flowers are in my yard. I was the fortunate recipient of perineal wildflower gardens from the previous owner of my home. This spring I spent many hours hanging out in the dirt trying to get the "perfect" focus. The macro lens was the first lens I bought...and probably the most difficult to use. But, I've really enjoyed it. I haven't quite discovered what style of photography I enjoy the most...ALL of it I think! I love the macro experience...but I could spend hours shooting architectural elements and capturing emotion and cultural/ethnic characteristics in people. All I know is that I'm eager to learn. I recently purchased a few books from the Scott Kelby series, as well as the first Master Class book from Tom Ang. I'm excited to dig in and learn more about technique. I just purchased my camera in May of this year...so all the shots you are seeing are being produced with no real experience or knowledge to back them up. Prior to May I only had a Pentax point and shoot. I know there is so much more I can do! I just need to learn about technique and lighting...and SO MUCH MORE! Please let me know if you recommend any particular readings. I would be honored to receive any direction from you.
I have a thousand ideas, but I don't DARE start shooting without more knowledge and practice. That may sound silly...but I want to "save up" my great ideas for when I'm more skilled. Anyway...I'm enjoying it and that's all that really matters to me. For an executive like myself, being able to reach inside and draw from the essence of "me" is important. The only thing I'm noticing is that this is a very solitary experience right now...which is ok for the time being...and I am really enjoying the peace and opportunity to think/feel without any interruption. But I look forward to interacting more with other photographers and subjects...because in the end...I'm really most interested in people.
Ok..enough rambling from me!
Thanks for noticing my photos...it gave me a smile to know someone else enjoyed them.
Cheers!

I went to your Flickr account, you do have a bunch really really good photos. However, I'm not into politicks enough to run out and shoot a CF card full off candidates. Each to their own. I don't do Flicker. If you would like to se some of my work feel free to go to my Scrapbook on my profile.
