What is your favorite family saying, what does it mean and how can others benefit from it?...
My family used a lot of sayings and expressions that are farm-related, or weather-related as we lived in Iowa. I can remember if I wanted something (and my parents weren't giving it to me), my dad would say, "You can whine about it until the cows come home..." Cows are known for doing their own thing so the meaning is that it will be a long, long, time. In other words, "no!"

Hi Spirited Strider,
Thank you for sharing your Iowa farm wisdom. Your saying gives a whole new meaning to the saying "Where is the beef?"
Thanks for sharing, and I am glad I did not have to buy the farm to hear it.

A couple of my favorites which were oft repeated are, "people only do what you let them do" and "I'm gone tell you in front so you won't stick out behind". Both are very deep and often need contemplation to fully decipher.
