I was listening to the radio the other day - just browsing through the dial when I came upon Rockaway Beach by the Ramones. Well, I'm smiling as I'm driving until the DJ comes on with the station tagline...it's an oldies station. Sigh.

It was so magical amd mystical. Nowadays, I chase Paul McCartney around the world when he's on tour, and pray that he'll play songs from the two albums you mentioned. He usually does. It doesn't make me feel old. We sang: Suzy - Q/Born on the Bayou Boots (made for walkin') You Can't Do That Hang on Sloopy Gloria (a raucous ska version) Hanky Panky Viva Las Vegas Little Sister Low Rider Wooly Bully She's About a Mover Shake Rattle and Roll... (plus a host of originals that you can hear at www.myspace.com/callmebwanaband) I turned 53 on Thursday, I'm still playing the songs I learned in my parents basement when I was 13 - 40 years ago. Blows my mind, baby. |
