Happy 2007.This coming June will mark 40 years since the release of Sgt. Pepper. I guess that would make it 60 years since he taught the band to play.

On January 20, we'll mark 43 years since the release of Meet The Beatles.

Swiftly fly the years, indeed. For a generation that was at the epicenter of a cultural shift and a group of people that dictated style and, yes, historic change, aging is slow and a bit unreal, no?

We're the group the world has marketed to...from the Davy Crockett hat to Shindig...from the Mustang to XM...it's all about us.

Question: what real life markers make you feel.....dare I say it....old??

I was listening to the radio the other day - just browsing through the dial when I came upon Rockaway Beach by the Ramones. Well, I'm smiling as I'm driving until the DJ comes on with the station tagline...it's an oldies station. Sigh.

I have such great memories of "scooping the loop" in my hometown of Spencer, Iowa, listening to the new 8-track of Sgt Peppers. It was so magical amd mystical.

Nowadays, I chase Paul McCartney around the world when he's on tour, and pray that he'll play songs from the two albums you mentioned. He usually does.

It doesn't make me feel old. It makes me feel very, very happy

Scooping the loop!

I went to college in Iowa (Grinnell) and dated a guy from town who owned a forest green Nova with bucket seats and some fancy engine that he put in. . that thing scooped the loop with a vengence!

I <heart> Iowa.

Last night, on the eve of my mother's passing, I played a gig at a local bar. We sang:

Suzy - Q/Born on the Bayou

Boots (made for walkin')

You Can't Do That

Hang on Sloopy

Gloria (a raucous ska version)

Hanky Panky

Viva Las Vegas

Little Sister

Low Rider

Wooly Bully

She's About a Mover

Shake Rattle and Roll...

(plus a host of originals that you can hear at www.myspace.com/callmebwanaband)

I turned 53 on Thursday, I'm still playing the songs I learned in my parents basement when I was 13 - 40 years ago. Blows my mind, baby.
