We're not getting any younger, and many of us are faced with our own illness/accidents, as well as being responsible for children still living at home, and mom & dad needing partial or complete assistance with their daily needs.
Are you prepared for an emergency? Do you have your lists ready (current medications, Do Not Resuscitate orders, insurance information, what to pack, who to call, medical/surgical history information, SSNs, etc.)?
What do you do once you get to the hospital? Does your family have a patient advocate? (I'm the only nurse in my family & my husband's family, and get called every time someone is admitted or discharged). Do you know how to keep yourself or your loved one safe? Do you know your rights?
An illness or accident, in just a few moments, can change the whole dynamics of your life: your job, your role in the family, your friendships (you find out who they really are), your finances, EVERYTHING!
Are you ready? Tell us about your "plan", or ask for advice or information, but . . . BE PREPARED!!
