Metro should pull the Rhor (1K) series for complete inspection. That leaves ~ 826 cars left for revenue service. Cars that have been inspected can be placed as "gap" trains to replace a train breakdown; remove 8 cars down to 6 temporaily; and on light use line late at night trim trains to 4 cars... Safety is better than an accident... And I'm sure this isn't the first time a 1K has had this happen, just this one was reported on social media..
The Rohr, 1000 series should have been retired years ago when they turned 30, not when they turn 40. They are too old and are not safe, even in the middle of trains. Metro has ignored the red light inside, above the door not working. They can make do with 100 or so less cars just as they did when they took all 4000 series out for door repairs. Stop making excuses you need them for service. The 6000 series should have replaced them
