Reagan National Airport should be just National Airport.
Ooh, I know! How about naming each station after the nearest locally owned business of note? For example, U Street/African-Amer Civil War Memorial/Cardozo could be called "Ben's Chili Bowl" station. Totally awesome.
"National Airport" to coordinate in a few years with a station named simply "Dulles Airport". (Note to those who think that's dissing 'the Gipper' -- even Nancy Reagan believes "Reagan National Airport" is an inappropriate name.)
Woodley Park - Zoo / Adams Morgan should really just be Woodley Park - National Zoo
How about dropping the hyphenization + extra names and just going with the first name in the stop name for all of them? It would be simple, and let's face it, most people just refer to it by the first name anyways. No one says, 'Get off at "U Street Cardozo African American Civil War Memorial.' They say, "Get off at "U Street." If a name is taking up that much space on a map, then there's something wrong with the name. Names should be conveniently identifiable, and Metro started a horrible precedent when they kept adding things to the station names.
Plus, I don't see the point of completely changing the name of a station that's been around 20+ years. It's one thing to shorten a name to what's easily recognizable, but it's another to change it to something completely different - i.e., "Parker Gray" instead of "Braddock Road."
Rename Georgia Avenue/Petworth to Georgia Avenue/Petworth/Park View or just Petworth/Park View.
Georgia Avenue doesn't mean much and the station is on the border of two neighborhoods.
Gallery Place/Chinatown should just be Chinatown.
Who ever says "Hey let's run down to Gallery Place for dinner and drinks after work?"
