- What have you dreamt about doing in the future?
This Stage has its own three sub-stages:
- Assess
You can take a career assessment test to gain some clarity. Understand that assessments aren't magical, but they will help you determine your personal motivators, preferences, and tendencies. (You can also review an assessment you've already taken. But if you've changed a lot and an old assessment doesn't seem to be talking about you anymore, it's probably time to take another.)
- Interpret
Once you have the results of your assessment, begin to interpret what it means for you. Start by comparing your findings to the current work world. Are you built to start your own business, or will you be happier working for someone?
- Brainstorm
Still need ideas? Read some of the Career Change stories on our site to see what other Boomers have done.

Where would i find some good career assessments to take online?

For a pretty reasonable fee ($29-129), I recommend www.assessment.com
For free, I recommend;
www.41q.com

www.41 does not work

As one of our members just experienced, www.41q.com is not functional at this time. It was at the time of the original post in Oct. I'll see if I can find out what's going on.

Hi folks,
I've joined within the last 48 hours or so and this is my first reply/post.
I found that www.41q.com works. Basically it told me the same as what the Myers Briggs told me (INFP...oh great). So I guess I'll find out what a sales rep does...

I took the self directed search and don't recommend it. Guess you get what you pay for... Although after 30 years of work in corporate America maybe being a "horse exerciser", or growing African Violets would be an amusing break. Save your $9.95 and put it toward something a little more sophisticated.

Good point, Chandlwc1. However, you might take the free version of www.assessment.com. It might be of some help to you. Their $29.95 tool is quite good.
