A few weeks ago I suggested 5 ideas for a home-based business;

www.tbd.com/content/article/basic_article.article:::work_home_based_biz_ideas.

Here are 5 more options for you to consider;

* E-Book: you could write a series of e-books on various topics (gardening, sex, whatever) and sell them on the Internet

* Wedding Planning: you can manage weddings for couples across the world via you home-based service.

*Webinars: in essence, you can sell consulting services via on-line seminars using various media tools. Check out www.webex.com.

* Information Research: you can do contract research for companies and individuals via the Internet.

* Search Engine Optimization: for you techies, it's the hot thing in web-based businesses.

As you would expect, you'll have to spend some time and a little money perfecting your skill-level on these and other work-at-home opportunities.

You can also talk to the many TBD members about their experiences starting their home-based business (i.e. via TBD's Work Buzz group)

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences with these "start your own business" scams. unfortunately,I hear your story several times a day.

What I'm suggesting is about starting your own business from scratch. You will need to do significant research and due diligence first. I would start by talking to people who have been successful in doing such--to see what they went thru.

One suggestion---go to the TBD Work area and start your own discussion group with other members.I'll bet there are many who have done just that and would be willing to share their experiences with you.

Sorry to be cynical, but in my limited experience there are virtually no work at home opportunities. I have been looking for at least the last 15 years and the only ones that seem to have any true success are authors and programmers.

I was a mid-level manager in a large US corporation for many years. We had a perfect work-from-home opportunity. The first test employee did not do a great job. Upper management killed the idea and never listened again.

If you want info on real businesses and real products, I will gladly reply. There are scams out there. However, I have found several work at home

ideas that are real products and real income.

Let me know if you want to share more.

MiamiDavid,

FYI-all of the suggestions I made on Home-based Business Ideas and 5 More Work at Home Ideas are actually taken from clients and people I know who have successfully built a business as I described in those two posts.

I spend a lot of time online, observing forums and other sites, and my conclusion about work at home ideas is that most people get scammed either because they don't inform themselves, or they want "jobs" with all the work picked out. There are hundreds of thousands of people clicking on ads, taking surveys, trying to hook people into signing up on sites that pay for referrals, etc.

I'm not business-oriented, but my writing is gradually bringing me more income as I determine which sites actually pay enough for me to bother with them. Cumulatively, they supplement my fixed income without too much effort on my part. I've developed my writing skills over the years and now they're starting to pay off at a time of my life when I need some way to keep up with inflation and have a financial buffer, but don't have the energy to work at a regular job.
