Expelled: Is Ben Stein Lost?

I've been seeing adverts for this movie for a few days now. Finally did some research and, as near as I can tell, Ben's confused.

He keeps talking about evolution but when it comes down to arguments, he's apparently talking about abiogenesis. (Spontaneous generation abiogenesis n : a hypothetical organic phenomenon by which living organisms are created from nonliving matter )

Abiogenesis, by whatever name one applies, is separate and distinct from evolution.

Anyway, since the movie doesn't open till the 18th, you can check out the site and trailers to see what he seems to be talking about and if you think this is likely worth watching.

Here's a thoughtful review of the film.

Not to help derail my own discussion, but which one is Ben?

Interesting review, Janus.

I think Scientific American agrees and, maybe, states the problem with the film succinctly: Unfortunately, Expelled is a movie not quite harmless enough to be ignored. Shrugging off most of the film's attacks—all recycled from previous pro-ID works—would be easy, but its heavy-handed linkage of modern biology to the Holocaust demands a response for the sake of simple human decency.

Ben should probably stick to what he knows best. If you ever read his column in the Sunday NY Times, what ben might not know about evolaution, he more than makes up for in his knowledge of finance.
