Deciding on a career post-divorce

I've been divorced a few years now and will be going back to school to finally earn my BA (something I've been trying to do since 1976). And I'm facing the big five-oh next March, so I consider myself an extremely late bloomer.

Welcome, Capelily. When I celebrated my 50th birthday (two years after my divorce), I went to a spa and signed up for a fitness walk. Both of the other participants were doing exactly the same thing. That was part of my inspiration for starting TeeBeeDee.

I wish you as happy a post-divorce post-50 experience as I have had, and happy blooming.

Don't sweat it, age is just a number - it's where your head and heart are that really matters. Look at me! I'm 43, and I am looking forward to the following: A career that I love (or business, but I am working on that), marriage for the first time (probably to a younger woman, much if I can help it), and children for the first time (can't wait to have my own). I'm still a young person, at heart and soul. I'm far from peaking.

Capelily,

Congratulations! You are about to embark on a amazing journey. It will be somewhat frustrating at times, but for the most part, it will be invigorating.

Take a look at TBD's Career Change Workshop. It's a very comprehensive approach to career change and is as appropriate for 50 as it is for someone else. I suggest you take an hour or so and make yourself familiar with the content first. You can work 1 stage at a time, or cherrypick the parts that work for you.
