she's beautiful, unique! i love that shade of green with her hair.
prom was not such a huge deal for me. we did not rent limos--we borrowed our parents' cars. and since the drinking age was 18, and our school did not have an after prom event to keep us all safe and hopefully sober all night, we went drinking afterwards. in driver's ed class they always showed the film 'the last prom' during prom week, the one where drinking teens driving badly are tragically killed on prom night.
my daughter had a rough time with prom if only because even tho prom was in may, the girls in her grade started asking all the guys in january. (in the olden days of 1976, we did not ask the boys.) the boy my daughter asked turned her down because his parents' religion forbade him going! she was devastated, and had no one to ask since everyone had been all snatched up already. she eventually asked a gay male friend from another school. and then ended up hanging out with other male friends during the night itself, when she wasnt outside commiserating with her girl friend whose date had ditched her for another girl. such drama!!!
also at her school, kids dont have to have dates to go. some girls went alone, some went with their girlfriends in a group, and there was one lesbian couple.
all in all a very emotional, whirlwind of a night.
