What's In Your Pantry?

I don't want to alarm anybody, but maybe it's time for Americans to start stockpiling food.

No, this is not a drill. Our spare bedroom in this tiny cabin has always been our pantry.

What is in your pantry?

Can you survive out of your pantry for a whole year? A great idea for using your shorter-term cash and your 2008 IRS Tax Rebate Check?

I just want a gun in my pantry so that when things get tough I can shoot my way out! Does that make me sound like a redneck?

Nope, no joke. Minimally preparedness speaking, if you have to go to the store twice a week or weekly, that is what I am questioning. Is there a disaster free state I don't know of?

We here in Reno are having about 130 earthquakes a day now and everybody around here seems to be in that pantry mode. It's scary and it's hard to know what to do. The headline in the paper this morning was "Experts: Prepare for quakes". I am so glad for experts. What would we do without them. But my favorite was when my wife woke up this morning and a friend and I were looking at the quake site and I say to my wife "We're having one about every two to five minutes" and she replies "well, then go get some champagne!". I love that woman.

Jeff, yeah, that is what I am talking about---somehow "600 quakes" post captured a few affected ones on TBD (no- I did not start the discussion) but I salute your DW for having the mindset of IMMEDIATE relief.

I hate to think of food shortages caused by unnecessary panic. We have always have a nice assortment of food in our pantry but I am not going to go out and buy everything up at our local grocery stores. We seem to be living in a very paranoid world and I do not want to add to the mass hysteria. Kind of reminds me of when many people built bomb shelters.
