Does anyone have thought on the stock Market?

Going up? Fav Stock? Worst puchased stock?

My fav stock is KSS. No, I did not say kiss.

KSS is a stock with its headquarters in Wisconsin.

It is a type of a department store called Kohl's.

Somewhere between Macy's and Target.

Anyone have a hated stock? Peace, Mary Beth

The interest rate cut has blown a hole in the money market and cd rate but if you are purchasing on credit, there will probably be a dip in the mortgage rate to balance it. I am used to fluctuations in everything including my heart rate. It beats faster when the stocks tumble!

Nothing is constant except change when you are playing with money.

Recently, I essentially bailed out of the stock market and put a chunk into rental units and some into CDs when they hit 5.65 % for five year ones. Looking at what is happening, I guess I got lucky.

This area has lower real estate costs than other destination cities and is right now called the emerging new hot city - Philadelphia. I bought two condo units in a center city building that is a reconstructed 1922 hotel. The price is lower than any in the area and we rented them within days of taking possession because the area includes 3 medical/nursing schools and 3 major universities within a five minute subway ride.

Early in our careers, my wife took a job that has a high guaranteed pension (government position - teaching). I worked for myself and invested in the market to create my own pension. Now that I cashed out and bought apartment units, I have enough coming in from rentals and interest on lock-in CDs that, along with SS, it allows me to live a comfortable life and we can save much of her salary. When she retires in 2 - 3 years, adding her pension and SS, we will have sufficient so that between us, we can live anywhere we want on the planet. We plan to look for someplace with mostly pleasant weather and no winter. I spent some time in Rio and love everything about it except the high crime rate so we will see how they handle it over the next few years. The best places nature creates mostly seem to be populated with people who prey on the elderly which we will be after a decade or so. Right now, I can take care of myself but when I am 80+ I doubt I'll still have the physical presence to do so.

Reasonable financial security is a good feeling and the only worry is to make sure we keep breathing to maximize the time we will have to enjoy it all. We made plenty of sacrifices earlier in life so we could have what we managed to accumulate. Enough is locked in so that if the apartment building burns down and the stock market crashes, we will be fine. Once you have security, life can be enjoyable so long as your health is good and so far, so good in that department.

I'm done with high risk investing. I'm happy now with guaranteed income and the moderate risk of fully owned rentals. The overhead is low if for some reason they don't rent and they should increase in value from where I bought them.

I want to focus on fun things, not making money. I worked all my life and I enjoy travel, reading, writing, photography - all things that you have to have some income for but you don't have to own a money tree.

Nice to hear your thoughts Milt T. I do like the metals market. Gold is up 16% since Jan. 07

My fav is silver. It is on more of a roller coaster than gold. If you are ok with that, % wise, silver will out perform gold in my mind. Gold is about $730

per ounce. I recommend gold collectable coins.

Have about 5% in gold. Add silver too in collectable coins. That is my personnel advice.

I have been researching this from 2000 till now.

My advise is based on my own personnel reaserch. I am not a "trained" pro. If anyone follows my advise, do so at your own risk.

Keep a varried porfolio. Mary Beth

Today, Fri. Sept 28, 07 @ 7:55am we have a huge up movement in the gold market.

As of 7:55am central time:

gold up $10.50 to $743.90

silver up 0.21 to $13.73

I think collectable coins are a great inverrstment at this time. Graded coins MS (mint state) 60 -62 are

good coins, MS 63 - 65 are better coins and MS

66-70 are the best coins per grading. Price for the coin will increase as the grade of coin increases.

Any questions on gold investments? Does any one have a comment on inflation or the fact that the US dollar is falling?
