Meeting TBDers

Hypothetically:

Lets say that there was some major event, say the Illinois State Fair (located in the center of the country, roughly), a reasonable period of time away (3 mos), where there were other activities in the area worth exploring also. Would you go if 'TBD' (meaning some members got together and made arrangements for) hosted (you pay) a cocktail party where you could actually meet other TBDers?

It would be so much fun to just be a fly on the wall at a live TBD event and listen to how much laughter that would be generated with some of the people here.

I would really love to have cocktails and just listen at a live event, kind of like now. I have cocktails and just read.

Interesting tags for a possibleTBD cocktail party.

Sex over 40? Sex? What kind of a cocktail party is this exactly?

Realistically, as a single parent and business owner who tries to fit in a family vacation and a friend vacation along with a few business conference trips, it is difficult for me to pick up and go away. I had intentions of going to Houston until it actually came down to planning it, couldn't fit it in.

If it was something within driving distance, I'm in.

I'm with you spuff, traveling isn't going to actually happen. Just too busy. Tags? I would kind of hope that wouldn't be a tag. I would rather talk cartoons. Cartoons and liquor could end up in several arrests.

Interesting question this.

Like pickleallen, I'd want to know who I was going to meet, but if we were all flies on a wall as Joe has suggested, I suspect someone would start swatting us all. Not a pretty sight methinks.

But 3 months? Oh dear, No.

3 days maybe, but in my experience of meeting people one it has met through the internet has it's pro's and con's - and I've met a couple of hundred over the years (but that was because we had a life experience in common.)

There are some people who are utterly briliant in expressing themselves - and I was in awe of their language power - on the screen, but were tongue-tied when it came to face to face conversation.

On the other hand, I have met people who - for one reason or other - couldn't string two words together on the screen, but were the most loquacious - and entertaining - and immensly interesting I have ever met! (Which is one reason I have every regard for anyone who is dyslexic.)

I also discovered that many of my e-mail contacts were deaf mute and the internet gave them a level playing field for the first time in their lives!

But I'm game for anything - except that Illinois is not anywhere near me.

You'll all have to come to Windsor UK.

I think that would be fun, we use to have a local chat room here in Spingfield and we would go out every friday night or we would take our families and go camping, we would go to different homes of the group and BBQ, theres times just the ladies would go to the river and go tubing .

It was nice to see people that you talked to on the computer and they were the same in real person.
