Did he/she REALLY say that?

Ever hear a comment from a friend, relative, co-worker - that just made you want to spit your food out? I mean the unbelievable words that came directly from their lips to your ears, and they say with all the belief and seriousness of a simple stooge. You know who I'm talking about! It's the woman I've known for years who told me just the other day that she was "fortunate not to spontaneously combust like so many others who feel very hot." Or the co-worker who says things automatically, without much purpose: "Your hair is shorter!" (yes, thanks) "Who used all the copy paper?" (12 people look at each other). Or worse, "Why am I fat?" "Am I fat?" Please participate. Tell your story so I know I'm not alone in this.

funny post!

People tend to say things to me like, "Wow, you've been getting some sun!" When, in fact, it is simply what color I am. A woman in a store once remarked on my brown eye shadow. I wasnt wearing any.

On a different note, after a very large funeral at our church, my pastor came downstairs and told me, "I got such a hot flash during that funeral! I just wanted to tear off my clothes and run out of there."

I still cant get the image of that out of my head.

Yrs ago my father was suffering from burnt bowels from radiation therapy following prostate cancer. He constantly got infections. So while I was at work a nurse came out and inserted a catheter.

That night he was in extreme pain and could not urinate. I called the nursing company, but they said that the nurse showed my mother how to use a huge syringe to extract any blockage.

I loudly let them know that my 80yr mother was NOT going to be doing that and if they wanted someone to show me fine.

It was late so they sent out a woman. She could hear my father screaming before she ever entered the room that he was in.

She injected saline into the catheter line...nothing came out. But he was screaming more. So she nervously did it again with the same results.

She starts yelling over his screams, Honey, honey, honey does it hurt?"

I had to do everything in my power to keep me from dragging her outside and kicking her in the ass and then asking her if it hurt!

I ended up taking him to the ER, and after another 40 mins of screaming a pale looking nurse comes out and says that they got thousands of blood clots out of him.

The whole problem was that the first nurse put in too small of a catheter.

Mine's waaaay worse than being small. Marrying after all my residencies were complete, then for the second time later ... when I walk with my 19 yo college daughter, I can get .. "you have a fine looking granddaughter there".

That's when I wish I was as tiny as Spuff.

Anita: Your story is outstanding. This one a bit more meager:

An acquaintance and I are talking. I say, "Boy, I had a rough childhood. I remember..."

She cuts me off and says "No, you didn't."

I try again. "No, I mean I had a rough childhood with respect to..."

She cuts me off again. "No. You did not. I need to stop at the drugstore today and I need to get back before 1:00 today because I have to leave .... " (blah blah blah)

Lost for words, I remain = confused. Seeking new acquaintance. Please call asap.
