I have been diagnosed with this, clinical depression and severe anxiety. I am not a war veteran. I have deep appreciation for these people but it's hard to find a place to talk about this for me.

Does anyone here have this? I can't afford nor can I bear to take what my doctor provided for me (cymbalta). So I stopped taking it and I am really on edge.

Does anyone out there have good suggestions of meds to take

I think that you should stick to a Doctor's recommendations for prescribing medicines for your condition. If you aren't satisfied with that person, then seek out another for a second opinion. Also let your present Doc know how you feel about his/her present course of action. Do you have any idea of what is causing your problem?

I have to agree with happydays. Find a new doc.

Get a second opinion. Do you have flashbacks?

There are theapies and treatment for flashbacks called "rapid eye movement"

that might help. A certified therapist can lead you in rapid eye movement. If you have flashbacks, tell the doc. Treatments are out there. Keep looking for help. Have you looked into support groups.

Many support groups are free.

I dont know if that specifically was my problem. But, Katrina did a number on me. For temporary relief, you might want to try Noni Juice (there is a specific brand I have in mind). It worked wonders for me when I was really on edge. I dont know that it will help you. But, at least it is natural.

Some people use St. Johns Wort. Look for it in a health food store. You might find it where vitimins are sold. I had a friend that used it with good results.

First: Was the doctor a psychiatrist? if it was your primary, what he doesn't know about depression and anxiety would fill an encyclopedia. Would you go to a proctologist for brain surgery? There are many antidepressants and antianxiety meds and when one makes a person more uncomfortable than he was before he took it, they try a different one. I have worked in the field for 40 years and have seen people recover quickly when they get the proper meds in the proper dose for them. Often the first few days on a med are difficult until your body aclimitizies itself.

You need an expert in the field of depression, not yourself to make the med decision. You need to monitor any med to report what it is or is not doing. You are in charge of your welfare inb the end but you are not an expert on the conditions that you have. They are difficult to deal when you are the person who is suffering the symptoms, but they are treatable.

I'm glad you posted. The best start is to ask but be careful which opinions you listen to. You need the best expert you can find and he or she is not going to be in a chat group! They are going to be listed with the local medical association.

If you decide not to tgake meds, if yhou have a chemical imbalance in your body, you are risking getting worse.

You need to see the right doctor to get the right advice. You shoild not try to deal with this on your own.

Hi wireless. I have been posting answers to give

ideas that fit the questions you posed.

With that said, I agree with Milt t. Go to a psychiarist

for a proper medication assessment. PTSD can be treated. There might be a different drug that works for you. As for the costs, all docs get free samples.

Before you get a month supply, some docs recommend a 7 day trial to get a sense if the drug is working for you. Ask for free samples. You need to ask and be an advocate for yourself.

If you are shy or too overwhelmed with things; ask a trusted friend to attend doctor appointments with you so they can ask for the free drugs for you.

Again, many support groups are free. They are a good place to find information on PTSD ect.

And, DONT rely on one doctor's diagnosis or treatment. If you are not comfortable with one, find one with whom you are.
