Rotten Neighbors

So have you heard about this new website called Rotten Neighbor (http://www.rottenneighbor.com/ )? It lets you rat out your neighbors publicly -- they're noisy, they park in front of your driveway, they borrowed your shovel and never gave it back... you get the picture. (P.S. Don't bother trying to go to the site in the next day or so, it appears to be "overwhelmed" from the sudden media attention.)

So what do you think? Personally, I'm sort of horrified. It doesn't seem to be a very good solution to the problem. I mean, won't it just inflame the neighbor if they see you're publicly bad-mouthing them?

That said, you KNOW I'll be on the site being the nosy neighbor that I am.

People need to vent without endangering relationships in the long run. Good business concept having sold ad space to potential "new homes" so that the neighbor can escape his current situation.

I have one neighbor who is nearly invisible and the other is an uppity yuppy with a low tolerance for kids, dogs etc who oddly elected to move into a family oriented non-yuppy neighborhood.

My neighbor doesnt like the bushes that separate our back yards. He asked one day if he could trim them slightly. I said ok. A year later he is hacking them up quite a bit.

We are cordial and I don't want to grouch but he is overstepping his bounds.

Suggest to your neighbor that you should work together to trim the bushes.

Maybe he won't take such big liberties with you watching.

Just a thought, but a presence is intimidating.

LOL

Did you read the testimonials "from actual rotten neighbor users.?"

There's a picture of a smiling couple that looks like they met each other on Match.com, or discovered viagra claiming: "This service saved us from living next to bad neighbors".

I would use it to make certain I wasn't moving next door to some busy-body a-hole that was going to complain publicly, via the Internet, about everything I, the kids, or the dog did. "The leaves fall off his sycamore into my yard and he never does anything about it." or how about "His delinquent children run amok all over the neighborhood and this morning i found their bicycle tracks in my grass! When I complained he told me f**k off!"

Hehehe

This came out on Daily Candy today so I went right to it....you're right, overwhelmed. I can't imagine any of my neighbors on there...we adore each other. I know they love my parties, trees with way too many leaves that fly about, barking dogs, weekly garage sales....

I'm adding on to my house instead of moving...because I love my (wacky) wonderful neighbors. Of course, who knows what they think of me...

This solution beats putting a bullet or two in them. If it releases anger and allows everybody to walk away in one piece, it is a good solution.
