I used to like O.J.

This doesn't really have anything to do with Orange Juice and not much actually to do with O.J. Simpson, but do you remember those old rental car commercials where O.J. ran through the airport to get to his car? I liked that commercial.

I also used to like one where people puttered around on the streets pretending to drive invisible vehicles. I don't even remember what that one was for, but it was terrific marketing.

Did anyone ever figure out where the beef was? Can you complete this sentence "plop, plop, fizz, fizz..."? What was the name of the gentle neighbor lady who made the greatest coffee ever? What could that white knight do with his magic lance?

These are the memories of my childhood.

When I was a kid, watching the commercials was as enjoyable (sometimes more enjoyable) than watching the programs themselves.

What was your favorite?

Give me a jingle.

...oh what a relief it is....do you remember when it was taboo to state the name of your competitor in a commercial ad? or when bras were only displayed on fake boobs?

I remember they couldn't show the beer being drunk. Can they do that now?

My favorite from childhood was, "See the USA, in your Chevrolet, America is asking you to call. My Dad loved the Dinah Shore show, but hated the jingle because he was die hard Ford loyal.

I guess you really have a point about childhood, Pru. I always space out during commercials. now My DH asks, "Did you see that", even though he knows I do not watch or listen. commercials.

I think these days they can show the real boobs with no bras.

i think sometimes todays commercials are the best part of watching tv. only the funny ones not the serious ones where you don't know what they are selling. can you imagine a job where you get to sit around in a room with a lot of other weirdos like yourself and brain storm ideas for these things?
