I'm Tired Of Hearing About Nothing Else!

Have you noticed that you’ll go to a discussion with a topic that is truly of interest to you, and while it starts off innocuous enough, fifteen or sixteen pages into the thing you notice that it the original subject begins to fade out of the conversation and another begins to prevail?

I’m talking about FOOD, people.

I eat. I may not get as much opportunity to as most people, but when the time comes, I can have a very healthy appetite. It seems most TBD’rs have a healthy appetite…some I would even call voracious, but frankly, I don’t want to hear about it!

It starts innocently enough. Someone will begin to throw in the mention of a beverage or two. I can handle that. A bit of innocent on-line drinking, doesn’t bother me and can, I think be fun and keep the conversation lively. However, it is never long before someone has to cross the line and start mentioning cookies or red velvet cakes, then the pictures start to go up and pretty soon the thread has deteriorated into a full fledged meal!

I, for one, will not hover around for that. If you check my profile, nowhere does it say that I joined TBD to eat…or even to look to the potential of eating. If it happens and I find myself nibbling at a Teddy Graham or two, fine. But I’m not here solely for that purpose. Please keep your culinary PM’s to yourself…or go to the food group, that is why we have it!

It doesn’t surprise me that posts like “What’s for dinner?” or “How do you like your coffee?” have gone on for so long, but it is exactly this sort of detailed description of personal preference that I find to be a total turn-off. I don’t want to hear about how you like your lamb grilled or that a béarnaise can bring a grouper to life. There are magazines that I can buy if I want that sort of thing.

I’m not saying the subject of ‘eating’ should be banned from TBD. I don’t believe in censorship, just please, keep it in the kitchen where it belongs!

I LOVE cheeseburgers!!! I really like mine medum rare.with lettuce and tomato. Lots of mustard and just a hint of mayonaise. Real mayo, not that other stuff. Oh, and I just HAVE to have my bun toasted. (I think I might get my buns toasted along with that whack upside the head)

Pru, thanks for the reminder. I have to prep the turkey enchiladas for dinner tonight. Robyn and friends will be here at 5 for margaritas.

I've noticed some people do attempt to soften the subject by leaving off the first letter. I appreciate this....but we all know what you're talking about!
